The Dragons came from behind to secure a thrilling 4-2 victory over Trefelin BGC.

Our comeback victory, from a goal down, moves us back up to second in the league, after goals from Dan Griffiths (x2), Liam Eason and Kieran Lewis.

The visitors got themselves in front in the first half with a goal from Connor Goldsworthy. The goal came from a misplaced pass at the back by Dylan Dinham that allowed Connor Goldsworthy to drive with the ball and play through Cian Goldsworthy whose initial strike struck post, before falling back to Connor Goldsworthy to tap home.

Griffiths scored the equaliser for the Dragons following some neat play with Eason. Griffiths' shot from outside of the box deflected into the bottom right corner.

Eason then gave the Dragons the lead on the stroke of half time. A miscommunication between the Trefelin defender and goalkeeper left Eason an open goal at a tight angle, and our star signing finished well despite Steffan Jenkins’ best efforts to keep it out.

Griffiths added to the tally just eight minutes after the break after combining with Eason once again. Eason delivered a great ball over the top for Griffiths to power home a header and give the Dragon’s a two goal cushion.

Trefelin never looked out of it however, and had a goal back around the hour mark. From a free kick, Declan Evans whipped a left-footed strike into the back of the net past goalkeeper Cameron Clarke.

The away side continued to put the pressure on, and had themselves a massive chance to equalise in the 77th minute. A ball across the box found Cian Goldsworthy free at the back post, but it was great save from Clarke to get across the goal and deny his close range attempt.

A flurry of chances from the visitors were met with resilient defending from the Dragons late on, including some important blocks from Luke Cummings.

Pontypridd secured a fourth and final goal in added time. Griffiths' initial shot was parried out by Aaron Jones, which saw the ball fall to the newly introduced Kieran Lewis, making his first appearance for the Dragons since September, to slot home and seal the three points.

Trefelin finished the game with ten men, in what was a busy day for referee Tegid Richards, as Joe Clarke received a second yellow card for kicking the ball away.
