It was late heartbreak for the Dragons, as former striker Liam Eason netted his 24th league goal of the season to extend his side’s lead at the top of the table.

It came from a quick throw-in from Joseph Lloyd to Eason, as he got the ball under control and his strike from outside of the box trickled through Cameron Clarke.

Llanelli took the lead in the game just after the hour mark, capitalising on Pontypridd's failure to clear a bouncing ball, with Gibbings slotting home the opener.

Despite the setback, we responded immediately as just a minute later we were on level terms. Our captain Jarrad Wright played a long ball over the top of the Llanelli defence, into the path of Sam Johnson, who took his chance with a composed finish into the bottom right corner.

First-half opportunities were scarce, though the visitors threatened early. Ten minutes in, Gibbings set up Eason, whose initial effort was parried by Clarke. The rebound fell to Gibbings, who fired narrowly wide of the left post.

We started brightly in the second half with a dangerous chance, which started from some hold-up play from Sam Johnson. The ball was played down the line to Cummings whose cross was pinpoint into Daniel Griffiths. His shot from close range was saved strongly by young goalkeeper John Chesters.

It was a disappointing loss for Ponty, especially after being in the game for so long and having chances to go and win the game ourselves. With three games left to go this season, the Dragons will be back in action next Friday, as we travel to Taff’s Well.
