Academy graduate Alfie Lewis capped off a solid performance from the Dragons, as they advanced up to second in the table.
The Dragons pressed on late as Tom Stokes cut the ball back to Lewis, who finished well to give the teenager his first goal in senior football.
Pontypridd took the lead in the middle of the first half. The goal came from a corner which was cleared by Ammanford, but was recycled to Jamie Veale on the right hand side who hung up a cross the skipper, Jarrad Wright, to power home a header into the corner.
The Dragons doubled the lead in the 77th minute with Veale providing again as he played through Liam Eason, who slotted the ball home past Ammanford goalkeeper, Luke Martin, for his 11th goal for the club.
The duo of Veale and Wright were at it again minutes after they combined to open the scoring. Veale’s corner into Wright was saved low to the right of Martin who parried the ball away from danger.
The visitors went close just before half time, Adam John on the right flank played a ball across the six yard box to the back post, which was just out of reach of Rhys Davies at full stretch.
Ammanford won a series of free kicks in dangerous areas in the second half, which resulted in bookings for our captain Wright and Joe Evans, although nothing came from the chances.
Eason threatened in the second half before his goal, his shot from the edge of the box thundered off the crossbar and was cleared.
Dan Griffiths entered referee Jordan Harman’s book towards the end of the game, after he was deemed to have left too much on his man.
The win sees the Dragons go on a run of five games unbeaten in the league, with a trip to Carmarthen next up on Saturday.
